Marianne Williams - Ian and and Angela Gay - Susan Hamilton
After two high profile acquittals at trial of parents/carers accused of salt poisoning (see below links for further details) their children and the upcoming appeal against conviction of salt poisoning against Susan Hamilton, it would appear that at least some progress is being made with the RCPCH now investigating alternative causes of hypernatraemia.
Susan Hamilton recently underwent the most comprehensive lie detector test yet devised, an FMRI and passed with flying colours. No deception. Subsequently to that outstanding finding I have been working with a production company to ensure Susan's full story is told, filming is ongoing and the documentary will be shown by a prestigious and highly commended documentary channel on Sky.
In the meantime the MHRA (the body that regulates drugs) has recorded Joshua Taylor's death as an adverse event to Domperidone and investigations into the potential for Domperidone to cause NMS (neuroleptic malignant syndrome) is ongoing.
Domperidone featured in both the Williams and Hamilton case and of more interest in the Salt Poisoning paper written by Coulthard and Heycock. Too many times for it to be mere coincidence.
This topic will now set out to debate the cuases of hypernatraemia and the lack of understanding into this condition, which is still at the cutting edge of science.

Sod'em and Gomorrah
Who is the RCPCH annointed King of Salt? Who is a pillar of salt to the medical fraternity? You guessed it: none other than Professor Sir Roy Meadow. I feel queasy at the name. Salt is a powerful emetic. Now I understand the reason why.

Indeed and it's interesting to note that at the time Sir Roy salt poisoning he was drug trialling Imipramine for bed wetting - Imipramine is another drug that causes NMS which has hypernatraemia as one of the symptoms - in Meadow's seminal paper on MSbP he cites the case of Christopher, whom he, with "great difficulty" forced 20 gms of salt down, Christopher was 15 months old at the time. Now, according to Roy, he only managed, having forced 20 gms down this helpless infant child, to raise the sodium to 147 mmols, the normal range for sodium is between 135 - 148, dependent on which hospital's values you are looking at. Which means Christopher must have been hyponatraemic (not enough sodium) prior to the assault that was perpetuated with force upon him. Now if Christopher was hyponatraemic, then it stands to reason something was happening to this little boy's sodium balance outside of the control of man, a natural problem like diabetes insipidus, which causes free water loss (to much urinating) - too much water loss leads to dehydration, dehydration leads to hypernatraemia.
I hope I am making myself absolutely clear here, it is a physical impossibility for a child of Christopher's age to be given that much sodium and have his range to remain within normal limits unless there was an underlying disorder - the Meadow seminal paper on MSbP is so inherrently dishonest and misleading it should be pulled, it's scientifically corrupt.
